Police Seek Information on Attempted Kidnapping in Germantown

Montgomery County police detectives are asking the public’s help regarding an attempted kidnapping in Germantown, according to a police statement.

On Friday, April 6, about 7:50 p.m., a 13-year-old girl left her home and walked to the 7-Eleven at 12681 Clopper Road, near Mateny and Clopper roads, police said.

After she left, she began walking north on Mateny Road to return home, police said.

Then, she was approached by a man in a white vehicle, possibly a smaller SUV, police said. While still in his vehicle, the driver asked her if she needed a ride. When she replied that she didn’t need a ride, the man parked and left his vehicle, police said.

The girl told investigators that the man was possibly in his 30’s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and thin (possibly weighing approximately 160 pounds). He was clean shaven and smelled “clean” as if he had recently bathed, police said.

He had a thick Hispanic accent.  He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, police said.

The victim also stated that a man who walking his dog at the time of this event witnessed the crime and told the suspect to stop his assault of the victim.
