Derwood Hit-and-Run Claims Life
Update Monday, Nov. 26: Police says Oscar Eduardo Rivas-Macal, 23, of Washington Grove Lane in Gaithersburg died from his injuries on Nov. 23.
Update, 1:10 p.m.: The driver of the Cobalt has been identified as Mario Antonio Jandres-Rivera, 24, of Ginger Court in Germantown. Jandres-Rivera was taken to a local hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The passenger of the Cobalt has been identified as 23-year-old Oscar Eduardo Rivas-Macal of Washington Grove Lane in Gaithersburg. Rivas-Macal was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Original post, Monday, Nov. 19: Montgomery County police are investigating a hit-and-run in Derwood where a pedestrian was struck, suffering life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred about 10 p.m. Sunday after a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was involved in a single-car collision on the side of Muncaster Road near Beechdale Court, police said.
One of the occupants of the car left the vehicle and was struck by dark-colored Ford Mustang, police said. The Mustang fled in the direction of Gaithersburg. Both occupants of the Cobalt were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers are asking for the public’s help in finding the Mustang.
