Police Say Woman Stole Credit Cards and Spent $10,000

Montgomery County police investigators said they are looking for a woman who bought more than $10,000 worth of merchandise using stolen credit cards in stores in Germantown and Rockville.

Officers believe the credit cards could have been stolen from the victims’ vehicles while they were parked at recreation facilities in Derwood and Darnestown.

Police released surveillance images of the woman and are asking for the public’s help to identify her.

The following thefts are believed to have been committed by the same woman:

Feb. 19 — The woman stole two credit cards from the victim’s vehicle, which had been parked at Lake Needwood in the 6700 block of Needwood Road in Derwood. The woman then used those credit cards to fraudulently purchase merchandise totaling $5,200 at two stores in Germantown.

March 7 – The woman stole two credit cards from the victim’s vehicle, which had been parked along the Seneca Ridge Trail in the 16800 block of Riffle Ford Road in Darnestown. The woman then used those credit cards to fraudulently purchase merchandise totaling $5,650 at a store in Rockville.

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call the Rockville county police district Patrol Investigations Unit at 240-773-6070 or call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
