Police Say 4 Arrested in Prince George’s Linked to Montgomery Robberies

Prince George’s County police said four men, arrested after a June 16 traffic stop, are believed to be involved in a string of 7-Eleven robberies around the metropolitan area. The robberies include two in Rockville and one in Gaithersburg, Prince George’s police said.
The 7-Eleven at 824 Baltimore Road, Rockville, was one of the convenience stores where the robbers entered the store, held the cashier at gunpoint, and then collected cash from the register and numerous packs of cigarettes, according to police reports.
That Rockville robbery occurred June 14 at the Burgundy Shopping Center, according to the city’s police crime summary. The other robbery in Rockville and the one in Gaithersburg were committed in May, according to Prince George’s County police.

Prince George’s police said they had charged:
- Tyrone Murphy, 26, of the 100 block of Danbury Street in Southwest D.C.;
- Leighton Williams, 31, of the 1200 block of Howison Place in Southwest D.C.;
- Kione Banks, 19, of the unit block of N Street in Southwest D.C.; and
- Khiry Banks, 27, of the 2400 block of Hartford Street in Southeast D.C.
The Bankses are brothers.
Kione Banks is charged with the robbery on Suitland Road only, police said.
Murphy, Williams and Khiry Banks remain in custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. Kione Banks has posted bond and is no longer in custody, online records say.
Over the span of four weeks, detectives believe the men targeted 10 7-Elevens in Montgomery, Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties, Prince George’s County police said.
Prince George’s County patrol officers spotted and arrested the four men minutes after they committed a June 16 robbery in the 6200 block of Suitland Road, police said. Two handguns were recovered during the arrest, police said.

On June 7, a request was submitted to the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigation Division for a 17-year-old male, to be charged with trespassing after an incident in the 200 block of Richard Montgomery Drive.
On June 12 at 9:44 p.m., a 42-year-old man was arrested for indecent exposure and urinating in public, after an incident near Veirs Mill Road and Atlantic Avenue.
On June 13 between 5:25 p.m. and 5:40 p.m., a 36-year-old man was arrested for possession of CDS-heroin and possession of CDS-paraphernalia, after an incident near 1st Street and Rockville Pike.
On June 14 at 6:36 p.m., a 26-year-old woman was arrested for malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct, and making an arson threat, after an incident in the 14900 block of Shady Grove Road.
On June 14, a 38-year-old man was arrested for theft, conspiracy to commit theft, credit card theft, and conspiracy to commit credit card theft, after an earlier incident on Feb. 22 in the 1700 block of Rockville Pike.
On June 14, a 33-year-old woman was arrested for theft, after an earlier incident between May 20 and May 25 in the 600 block of Smallwood Road.
On June 16 between 8:52 a.m. and 9:25 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was arrested for possession of CDS-methamphetamine and possession of CDS-paraphernalia, after an incident in the unit block of North Washington Street.
On June 17 at 11:18 p.m., a 29-year-old man was arrested for possession of CDS-cocaine and resisting arrest, after an incident near Fishers Lane and Higgins Place.
Incidents
600 block of North Stonestreet Avenue, someone gained entry to an unlocked storage trailer on May 28 between 5:25 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. Once inside the suspect removed six computer tablets.
800 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that someone removed cash from his vehicle on June 5 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
300 block of Martins Lane, the complainant stated that he was assaulted by two men on June 9 at 7:28 p.m. Both assailants were described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall; 200 pounds with large builds. One had orange tips in his hair. The other was last seen wearing a black shirt.
5700 block of Fishers Lane, the complainant reported that someone removed a laptop from an unlocked vehicle between 9:20 p.m. June 13 and 12:15 p.m. June 14.
5900 block of Holland Road, the complainant reported that someone removed a laptop, a wallet containing identification cards, and credit/debit cards, from an unsecured vehicle between 12:01 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. June 14. The wallet was later recovered without its contents.
300 block of Martins Lane, the complainant reported that someone removed set of keys from a locked locker between 7:20 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. June 14. A second complainant reported that a woman had been sitting next to her and her belongings, before she had entered the pool. Upon the complainant’s return, it was discovered that her unattended purse containing cash, debit/credit cards and an ID were missing. The woman is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall; 125 pounds; muscular build; last seen wearing a white towel.
1500 block of Rockville Pike, a man gained entry into a business by forcing a rear-door lock and prying open the door on June 15 between 12:03 a.m. and 12:12 a.m. Once inside, the man removed cash. A review of the surveillance video shows the man described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall; 130 pounds; thin build; with short hair.
14900 block of Shady Grove Road, the complainant reported that while she was waiting on one person, a second person reached across the counter and removed her cell phone on June 15 between 4:05 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. The first person is described as a woman, 5 feet, 6 inches tall; 190 pounds; heavy build; medium length brown hair; medium skin tone; last seen wearing black sunglasses and a white dress. The second person was a man, 5 feet, 7 inches tall; 190 pounds; medium build; brown eyes; bald/shaved head; goatee; dark skin tone; last seen wearing blue jeans and a black polo shirt.
