UPDATED: Wheaton Bank Robbed

Montgomery County police report that the M&T Bank at 12041 Georgia Ave., Wheaton, was robbed about 11:15 a.m. May 8.

The perpetrator entered the bank with a scarf concealing his face, police said. He gave the teller a note demanding money, and he received an undisclosed amount of money.

He then fled the bank, and was last seen heading north on Georgia Avenue.

The bank robbery was included in Montgomery County police’s weekly crime summary. The summary also said the county has seen a number of thefts from unlocked vehicles, which is a high-volume crime. The police urge all residents to take a role in preventing this type of crime by removing valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.

Bethesda:

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between about 5:30 p.m. May 4 and about 6:46 p.m. May 5. Affected streets included Greenvale Road, Taylor Street, Florida Street, Rosemont Drive, Danville Drive, Meadow Court and Sulky Lane. No force, all vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked; cash and property were taken.

A commercial armed robbery occurred at the Subway restaurant at 5286 Randolph Road about 8:37 p.m. May 3. The suspect displayed a weapon and stole cash.

Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 5600 block of Sugarbush Lane between about 7:30 p.m. May 4 and about 11:30 a.m. May 5. No force, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicle; cash was taken.

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 5800 block of Linden Square Court between about 6 p.m. and about 8 p.m. May 8. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; property was taken.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 5800 block of Overlea Road between about 8 a.m. and about 1:49 p.m. May 8.

A commercial strong-arm robbery occurred at the Walgreens at 10101 River Road about 4:50 p.m. May 5. The two men stole medications.

Silver Spring:

A residential burglary occurred in the 1400 block of Blair Mill Road between about 4:30 p.m. and about 5:15 p.m. May 2. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 100 block of East Wayne Avenue between about 8:30 a.m. and about 9:30 a.m. May 8. No signs of forced entry, several doors and windows were reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken. Police seek a man about age 35.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 3 and May 7. Affected streets included Mount Pisgah Road, Columbia Pike, Hampshire West Court and Hampshire Green Lane. Force was reported in three events; cash, property, and vehicle parts were taken.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Lockwood Drive and New Hampshire Avenue about 7:30 p.m. May 5. The robbers, believed to be in their late teens, assaulted a man and took his cash and property.

A commercial armed robbery occurred at the Dollar City at 11231 New Hampshire Ave. about 4:30 p.m. May 9. The robber displayed a weapon and stole cash. Police seek a man about 25 years old.

An armed robbery occurred in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in the early morning hours of May 6. The robber displayed a weapon and took the adult male victim’s cash. Police seek a man between the ages of 25 and 29.

A residential burglary occurred in the 3800 block of Lansdale Court between about 11:30 a.m. and about 1:30 p.m. May 7. Forced entry; property was taken.

A commercial burglary occurred at Seibel’s Restaurant at 15540 Old Columbia Pike between about 10:17 p.m. May 7 and about 3:30 a.m. May 8. Forced entry; cash was taken.

A residential garage burglary and two thefts from vehicles occurred at the same home in the 15300 block of Santini Road in the early morning hours of May 8. No signs of forced entry into the garage and vehicles, the garage door was reported to have been left open; cash and property were taken from the vehicles.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 14000 block of Castle Boulevard between about 10:15 a.m. and about 10:40 a.m. May 8.

Wheaton:

A bank robbery in Wheaton occurred at the M&T Bank at 12041 Georgia Ave. about 11:15 a.m. May 8. The perpetrator stole cash.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in the early morning hours of May 5. Affected streets included the 1100 block of Parrs Ridge Drive and the 16100 block of Drayton Farm Drive. No force, all vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked; nothing was taken.

Two commercial burglaries occurred at Mainscapes Inc. at 20400 New Hampshire Ave.:

• Between about 6:24 p.m. May 4 and about 6:30 a.m. May 5. No signs of forced entry, a window was reported to possibly have been left unlocked; cash was taken.
• Between about 7 p.m. May 5 and about 6:30 a.m. May 8. Forced entry; property was taken.

Two strong-arm robberies occurred in the following areas:

• In the 3500 block of Pear Tree Court in the early morning hours of May 5. The two robbers, both men, took a man’s property.
• In the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue in the early morning hours of May 8. The four robbers believed to be in their late teens assaulted a man and took his property.

A residential burglary occurred in the 4100 block of Postgate Terrace about 10:15 p.m. May 6. No signs of forced entry, the front door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken. Two men were arrested; a 37-year-old and a 33-year-old, both from Silver Spring.

Germantown:

An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in the 19700 block of Germantown Road about 10:45 p.m. May 3. Four or five men and one woman, ages unknown, assaulted a man and tried to take his property.

Two thefts from vehicles occurred between about 12 a.m. May 5 and about 5:30 a.m. May 6. One theft occurred in the 12600 block of Misty Meadow Place and one theft occurred in the 19000 block of Laurel Grove Terrace. No force, both vehicles were reported to possibly have been left unlocked; property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 13900 block of Schaeffer Road between about 12:45 p.m. and about 3:50 p.m. on May 1. Forced entry; property was taken.

A vehicle theft of a U-Haul rental vehicle occurred in the 18300 block of Tapwood Road between about 11:45 p.m. May 1 and about 1:30 a.m. May 2. The keys were reported to have been left in the vehicle.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred between May 1 and May 6. Affected streets included Schaeffer Road, Bear Creek Drive and Steeple Place. No force, three vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the fourth vehicle; cash and property were taken.

Montgomery Village:

A commercial burglary occurred at the Montgomery College corporate offices at 9221 Corporate Blvd. in the early morning hours of May 6. No signs of forced entry; property was taken. Police are seeking a man, age unknown.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 1 and May 5. Affected streets included Islandside Drive, North Pike Creek Place, Contour Road, Kilrush Court, Ivybridge Court, Burlingame Way, Marketree Circle, Blue Tee Terrace, Delcris Drive, Harron Valley Court, Lindbergh Drive, Fountain Valley Drive and Fountain Valley Court. Force was reported in one theft, several vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

Six to eight men committed an armed robbery occurred in the area of Montgomery Village Avenue and Walkers Choice Road about 11:15 p.m. May 8. One of the men implied that he had a weapon. The suspects assaulted a man and took his property.

An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Christopher Avenue and Boysenberry Drive about 9:11 p.m. May 9. The suspects assaulted the adult female victim. Police seek two teenagers, one 16 to 18 years old, the other 14 to 16 years old.

A residential shed burglary occurred in the 18000 block of Fence Post Court between about 10 a.m. May 4 and about 10 a.m. May 9. Forced entry; property was taken.
