Police Release Surveillance Images from Fairland Robbery
Montgomery County police have released surveillance images from a July 15 armed robbery in hopes the public can help identify the perpetrator.
The robbery occurred before 4 p.m. at the MetroPCS store at 13868 Old Columbia Pike, according to a police statement. Silver Spring District officers responded.
The detectives’ investigation revealed that a man entered the store and told an employee that he wanted to buy a new phone, police said. The employee went to the store’s stock room to retrieve a phone for the man and when the employee returned to the store’s showroom he found the man behind the counter, stealing money from the cash register, police said.
The man threatened the employee. In addition to stealing cash, the man stole the cell phone from the employee’s hands, police said. The suspect fled from the store. The employee told police he believed that the robber may have had a handgun in his waistband, police said.
