Police Describe Effort to Catch Gaithersburg Rapist (VIDEO)
Montgomery County police officers are investigating the report of a sexual assault that occurred last week in Gaithersburg.
Officer Rick Goodale said police received the report during the early morning hours of July 26.

Montgomery County police have released a composite sketch of a man a rape victims described as her attacker.
In a statement released Saturday night, police said the 26-year-old woman was raped during the early morning Wednesday after she left Quincy’s Bar and Grille in Gaithersburg.
Police said the victim said she left the establishment, at 616 Quince Orchard Road, about 2:30 a.m. with a man she met there. Once outside, the man forced her to a grassy area next to the Quince Orchard Plaza shopping center, police said.
The woman said she freed herself from the attacker’s grasp as he was forcing her to the field but he was able to re-establish a hold on her, police said. The attacker then raped the victim, police said. After the assault, the man fled and the victim drove to her home to report the assault to police, police said.
Detectives are releasing the sketch in hopes the public can help identify him, police said. The suspect is described as approximately 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing glasses and had facial hair, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the attacker or who may have information about the rape to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240.773.5050. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
