A 23-year-old Silver Spring man is being held without bail in connection with a Feb. 16 armed robbery of a Takoma Park jewelry store, online court records say.

According to a Montgomery County police statement, two men entered the Silver Spring Jewelry store on Feb. 16 demanding jewelry and cash. The store is at 1137 University Blvd. East.

With the loot, the men confronted two other men who parked in a Toyota Camry outside of the store, police said. The robbers threatened the victims with a weapon and demanded the car, police said.  The suspects took it and fled.

Police said that during the investigation, detectives identified Ever R. Torres-Enriquez, 23, of the 900 block of Northampton Drive in Silver Spring, as a suspect.

On June 14, officers conducted a traffic stop on New Hampshire Avenue near the Capital Beltway (I-495) on a vehicle in which Torres-Enriquez was a passenger, police said. Torres-Enriquez was arrested and charged with armed robbery and armed carjacking, both felonies.

If convicted, Torres-Enriquez faces 20 years for the armed robbery charge and 30 years for the carjacking charge.
