Police Investigating Wheaton Home Invasion
A 62-year-old Wheaton woman was the victim of a home invasion Friday, Montgomery County police said Wednesday.
The woman, who lives in the 1700 block of Windham Lane, told police that about 12:45 p.m., she was in her kitchen when she heard a noise in the basement. The woman went to investigate the noise and saw a man running up the basement stairs toward her, police said.
Once the man reached the top of the stairs, he hit the victim and she lost consciousness, police said. When she awoke, she saw the man was gone and that things were missing, police said. Investigators are unable to provide any details about the man, police said.
Fire and Rescue personnel took her to a local hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries that she received during the assault.
