Police Investigating Silver Spring Murder-Suicide
A 61-year-old man apparently shot his 88-year-old mother and then himself, Montgomery County police say.
Garvey Dyer, 61, of the 4700 block of Bethesda Avenue in Bethesda, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound in the home of Rose Dyer, 88, of the 1400 block of Fenwick Lane, police said.
Rose Dyer died from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.
The bodies were found about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, after Silver Spring District officers entered the home, on a report that an assault had just occurred, police said.
Detectives determined that Garvey Dyer was Rose Dyer’s son. Family members had contacted police after learning that Garvey Dyer had gone to his mother’s home.
