UPDATE: Police Officer Shot in Downtown Silver Spring
UPDATED (1:23 p.m.): The police officer shot in downtown Silver Spring Monday morning has died. Read this story for the latest updates:
UPDATED (10:41 a.m.): Montgomery County Police Department tweeted Monday morning that an officer was shot in the area of Ellsworth Drive and Fenton Street in Silver Spring and was taken to a local hospital. Police were dispatched to the scene at 8:49 a.m.
MyMCMedia can confirm that the officer was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C.
Doug Tallman, a reporter for MyMCMedia who’s on the scene in Silver Spring, tweeted that the officer’s condition is unknown.
When asked if other jurisdictions were assisting in this investigation, Captain Tom Jordan responded, “To say it’s an all hands on deck, that’s an understatement.”
