Police Investigate Thefts from Coin Machines in Gaithersburg and Germantown
Montgomery County police detectives are asking for the pubic’s help to identify two suspects they believe are responsible for a series of burglaries and thefts from coin machines located in apartment complexes in Gaithersburg and Germantown.
Police said seven burglaries and thefts occurred from May 28 to July 13 that they believe were committed by the same suspect(s). Five of the incidents took place in Gaithersburg and two in Germantown, according to a police news release.
Below is a summary of the seven burglaries and thefts, according to the police:
- May 28 – Burglary (forced entry into laundry room) 19723 Crystal Rock Drive, occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m.
- June 10 – Burglary (forced entry into laundry room) 18215 Lost Knife Circle, Montgomery Village, occurred between the hours of 8 to 4 p.m.
- June 19 or 20 – Burglary (forced entry into laundry room) 19723 Crystal Rock Drive, occurred at an unknown time.
- June 21 or 22 – Theft (from laundry room) 374 N Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, occurred at an unknown time.
- June 22 – Burglary (forced entry into the community center) 18700 Walkers Choice Road, Montgomery Village, occurred at approximately 2 a.m. (Surveillance video obtained from this burglary).
- June 21 or 22 – Theft (from laundry room) 116 Duval Lane, Gaithersburg, -Gaithersburg City Police Department, occurred at an unknown time.
- July 13 – July 13- Attempted Burglary (from laundry coin machine located outside of the building), 25 School Drive, Gaithersburg, -Gaithersburg City Police Department, approximately 4:21 a.m.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
