Police Arrest Man in Stabbing on Piney Branch Road

 

UPDATE: A 31-year-old man is charged in a Silver Spring stabbing that occurred Wednesday night on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.

On Thursday, detectives charged Ulises A. Blanco-Melgar,  31, of no fixed address, with one count of attempt first-degree murder, one count of first-degree assault, and one count of second-degree assault.

Blanco-Melgar is being held without bond.  A bond review hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m.  Friday at the Rockville District Court.

The victim of the stabbing remains in critical condition at this time.

ORIGINAL: Montgomery County police are investigating a stabbing that occurred around midnight in a second floor apartment in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.

That’s where officers discovered an adult, male victim in the second floor hallway suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.  According to police, a witness, who had observed the suspect fleeing from the scene on foot, began to follow the suspect in a vehicle. Police said the witness was able to flag down officers as they arrived to the call and provided officers with the suspect’s last known location. 

Police said the adult, male suspect was located a short distance from the scene and he was taken into custody.

According to a police statement, the victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in serious condition.

The investigation continues.
