Police Investigate Magruder Teacher for ‘Inappropriate Conduct’ with Student
A teacher at Colonel Zadok Magruder High School in Derwood is on administrative leave because of “allegations of inappropriate conduct” with a student, according to Leroy Evans, principal at Magruder.
Evans sent the Magruder community an email about the allegations Monday, and noted that Montgomery County Public Schools “is fully cooperating with Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) and the Montgomery County State’s attorney’s office on this matter.” The teacher will remain on leave as MCPD’s investigation continues.
According to Evans, MCPS is also working with the family of the student with whom the teacher is alleged to have been involved with inappropriately.
The teacher wasn’t named by Evans in the email, and Evans explained why: “Pursuant to our memorandum of understanding with these agencies and MCPS policies and regulations, law enforcement has requested that we refrain from sharing details regarding this allegation with the community to avoid prejudicing the ongoing investigation.”
Evans said updates will be shared with the community when additional information is made available.
