Police Investigate Homicide in Silver Spring

policeambulancesMontgomery County police are investigating a homicide in Silver Spring that was discovered on Feb. 20.

Police said at 2:37 p.m. on Feb. 20, officers from the 3rd district responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Hanover Street in Silver Spring. According to police, a co-worker had called police after the victim was discovered deceased in the home. Police said the co-worker had come to the home to check on the victim who had failed to report for work that day.

According to police,  the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

Police have identified the victim as Phillip F. Welsh, Jr., age 65, of the 2000 block of Hanover Street in Silver Spring.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.  Tips received through the Crime Solvers program may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for this homicide.
