Police Investigate Fatal Car Ax in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Nov. 3 along Connecticut Avenue in Wheaton.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., 4th District officers responded to Connecticut Avenue and Adams Drive for a report of a personal injury collision.  Officers located a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu that was overturned in the northbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue.  The officers also located an adult male, who had been ejected from the vehicle, in the center median.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue.  For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the right curb and overturned.  The driver of the vehicle, its sole occupant, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police identified the driver as David Wayne Mills, age 54, of the 3700 block of Ralph Road in Wheaton.
