Police Investigate Fatal Accident in Wheaton

Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Aug. 22 in Wheaton.

According to police, at approximately 1:55 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the area of Georgia Avenue and Henderson Avenue for a report of a personal injury collision involving a pedestrian. Police said their investigation indicates that a silver 1999 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue as a female pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Georgia Avenue in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to Suburban Hospital and succumbed to her injuries on the morning of Aug. 23, according to police.

Police identified the victim as Barbara Jean Green, age 70, of the 100 block of Pierce Street NW, Washington, DC.

The driver of the vehicle is identified by police as Miriam Rose Parizer, age 91, of the 15300 block of Pine Orchard Drive in Silver Spring. Police identified a passenger in the vehicle as Eva Maria Burger, age 88, of the 3300 block of N. Leisure World Boulevard in Silver Spring. The driver and the passenger were not injured, police said.
