Police Investigate Bank Robbery in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on July 22 at 2:52 p.m. at the Bank of America, located at 10151 Colesville Road in Silver Spring.

Detectives learned that a man walked into the bank, produced a note and displayed an unknown type of potentially-explosive device. Police said the suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash. According to police, the suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the incident.

Police said the suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 5’10” to 6′ tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and an olive-green-colored baseball cap.

According to police, there is no video of the suspect to release at this time. Anyone with information about this bank robbery is asked to call the Police Department’s robbery section at 240.773.5100.
