Police line tape 500x375.fwMontgomery County Police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man, who police say died at an “underage drinking party” in Derwood.

Police say emergency crews were called to the 5800 block of Winegrove Court to respond to reports of an unresponsive person in the home’s swimming pool.

According to police, Diego Padilla, from Spring Street in Gaithersburg, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that the two hosts of the party initially denied officers entry inside the home to investigate reports of an underage drinking party. Once allowed entry into the home, officers say they observed several “extremely intoxicated” people outside along with large quantities of alcohol on the rear deck of the house.

Officers charged ten adults and one juvenile with possession of alcohol by persons under 21. Police are still investigating the party and charges against the hosts are pending.

The circumstances surrounding Padilla’s death and issues related to the underage alcohol party remain under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.
