Police Continue to Investigate 2017 Sandy Spring Death

Investigators continue to look into the suspicious death of a woman who died in a car fire more than a year ago.

Andrea Mion Hawvermale, 56, of the 1300 block Excaliber Lane, Sandy Spring, died June 17, 2017, died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, according to an autopsy by the the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Montgomery County Police said the manner of her death remains pending.

Investigators with the county’s Fire and Rescue Service say the car fire was not an accident.

The county’s 911 center received a call for a vehicle fire about 8:38 a.m. Saturday, June 17, police said. The fire occurred on the property of the residence in the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane.
