Police Believe Same Man Committed Series of Burglaries on Same Night

Montgomery County police believe the same man committed a series of burglaries on the same street in Bethesda the same night, according to the latest police crime summary.

The three burglaries took place in the 10500 block of Meredith Avenue. Two occurred between about 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. June 1. The third occurred about 4:31 a.m. June 1. Police said the third burglary had forced entry with property taken.

Rockville:

The following two armed robberies are believed to have been committed by the same men:

  • In the 12800 block of Twinbrook Parkway at about 2 p.m. June 3. One suspect displayed a weapon. The suspects took the adult male victim’s property.
  • In the 5600 block of Fishers Lane at about 2:06 p.m. June 3. One suspect displayed a weapon; nothing was taken.

In both incidents, police are seeking two men, ages 18-22.

A commercial burglary occurred at the Volvo Dealership at 15401 Frederick Road between about 6 p.m. June 3 and about 4:50 a.m. June 4. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 29 and June 5. Affected streets included Larkmeade Lane, Deborah Drive and Hi Wood Drive. No force, multiple vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

Bethesda:

An attempted armed carjacking occurred in the 8600 block of 16th Street at about 7:22 p.m. May 31. The man implied that he had a weapon and attempted to take the adult male victim’s vehicle. The man, a 30-year-old from Burtonsville, was arrested.

An attempted commercial burglary occurred at Hardware City at 10504 Connecticut Ave. in the early morning hours of June 4.

An armed robbery occurred in the 5400 block of Grove Ridge Way about 12:16 p.m. June 3. Police are seeking two males, between the ages of 17 and 21. Both displayed weapons and took the adult male victim’s cash.

Police are seeking two men for a commercial armed robbery at the 7-Eleven at 5402 Randolph Road in the early morning hours of June 3. One man displayed a weapon. Both stole cash and merchandise.

A residential burglary and two vehicle thefts occurred at the same home in the 4600 block of Hunt Avenue in the early morning hours of June 3. Forced entry into the residence; property and keys to both vehicles were taken from the home and used to steal both vehicles. One of the vehicles was recovered June 3.

A residential burglary and two vehicle thefts occurred at the same residence in the 4700 block of Morgan Drive in the early morning hours of June 3. No signs of forced entry into the residence; property and keys to both vehicles were taken from the home and used to steal both vehicles. One of the vehicles was recovered June 3.

A commercial burglary occurred at Magruder’s Discovery at 10508 Westlake Drive between about 5 p.m. May 31 and about 9 a.m. June 1. Forced entry; nothing was taken.

Silver Spring:

A commercial burglary occurred at State Farm Insurance at 912 Thayer Ave. between about 12 a.m. May 31 and about 12:39 p.m. June 6. Forced entry; property was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred during this reporting period. Affected streets included Newell Street, Philadelphia Avenue, Ellsworth Drive, Georgia Avenue, Wayne Avenue and Ripley Street. Force was reported in two events, one vehicle was reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash and property were taken.

Two thefts from vehicles also occurred in the 10300 block of Insley Street in the early morning hours of June 1. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicles; property was taken.

Police are looking for a 15-year-old boy for an attempted residential burglary that occurred in the 9000 block of Pickwick Village Terrace about 3:30 p.m. May 31.

A residential burglary occurred in the 8700 block of Barron Street at about 8:15 p.m. May 31. No signs of forced entry, a window was reported to have been left open; property was taken. Police are seeking a man.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 8700 block of Plymouth Street at about 4:29 p.m. June 1. Force; property was taken. Police are seeking two men, ages unknown.

A residential burglary and a theft from vehicle occurred at the same home in the 9700 block of Hedin Drive between May 25 and June 4. Forced entry into the house and vehicle; nothing was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane between about 12 p.m. and about 3 p.m. May 30. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

A theft from vehicle occurred in the 9400 block of Stateside Court in the early morning hours of June 1. Force; property was taken.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred between May 29 and June 3. Affected streets included Tech Road, New Hampshire Avenue, and Industrial Parkway. Force; cash and property were taken.

An aggravated assault occurred at the Staples at 12008 Cherry Hill Road about 6 p.m. June 2. Both suspects displayed weapons and assaulted an adult male employee. Police seek two women, ages unknown.

A residential burglary occurred in the 2900 block of Hickory Leaf Way between about 8:50 a.m. and about 2:40 p.m. May 30. No signs of forced entry; property was taken.

Wheaton:

A residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Midland Road between about 4 p.m. May 31 and about 2:50 p.m. June 1. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to have been left unlocked; property was taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 31 and June 3. Affected streets included Colesberg Street, Pamela Drive, Durant Street, Rainbow Drive, Asa Drive, and Snider Lane. No force, multiple vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked, unknown means of entry into the other vehicles; cash was taken.

A commercial shed burglary occurred at Mainscapes Inc. at 20400 New Hampshire Ave. between about 8 p.m. June 2 and about 7 a.m. June 3. Forced entry; property was taken.

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 14200 block of Georgia Avenue between about 6:30 a.m. and about 7:20 p.m. June 6.

Four daytime burglaries occurred:

  • A residential shed burglary occurred in the 11700 block of Broadview Road between about 12 p.m. on May 23 and about 2 p.m. June 2. Forced entry; property was taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 2200 block of Arcola Avenue at about 12:15 p.m. May 31.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 3300 block of Randolph Road between about 8 a.m. and about 3 p.m. June 5. No signs of forced entry, a spare key left outside was missing and was likely used to gain entry; property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2100 block of Randolph Road between about 10 a.m. and about 1 p.m. June 6. No signs of forced entry, a door was reported to possibly have been left unlocked; property was taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 2200 block of Reedie Drive between about 3:30 p.m. and about 4:50 p.m. June 1. Forced entry; property was taken. Police seek a man, age unknown.

Germantown:

A residential burglary occurred in the 19100 block of Plummer Drive between about 8 p.m. May 30 and about 9:50 a.m. June 1. Forced entry; property was taken.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 20300 block of Brandermill Drive at about 5:41 p.m. June 3. The suspects assaulted the adult male victim and took his property. Police seek two men, ages unknown.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Aberstraw Way and Brandermill Road at about 3:26 p.m. June 6. Two males — one about 13, the other between the ages 15 to 18 — took the juvenile male victim’s property.

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 10700 block of Hunters Chase Lane about 7:55 p.m. June 1. No signs of forced entry, the garage door was reported to have been left open; property was taken.

Two thefts from vehicles occurred in the 12500 block and 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive between about 7:30 p.m. May 30 and about 2:30 p.m. May 31. No force, both vehicles were reported to have been left unlocked; cash and property were taken.

Montgomery Village:

A commercial burglary occurred at the Montgomery County Liquor and Wine store at 20004 Goshen Road in the early morning hours of May 31. Forced entry; merchandise was taken. Police seek a man, age unknown.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between May 30 and June 2. Affected streets included Stedwick Drive, Transhire Road and North Kindly Court. No force, unknown means of entry into the vehicles; cash and property were taken.

A double homicide occurred in the 8200 block of Gallery Court at about 10:46 p.m. June 5.
