Police Believe Bank Robberies Committed by Same Suspect (PHOTOS)

Montgomery County police officers are investigating two bank robberies that they believe were committed by the same suspect.

Police said on Feb. 13, at approximately 9:18 am, 2nd District officers responded to the
armed robbery of the PNC bank at 10211 Old Georgetown Road. According to police, the suspect entered the bank, displayed a small handgun, and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police said the suspect left the scene in an unknown direction.

A second bank robbery was dispatched at approximately 9:46 a.m., police said. Officers from the 2nd District responded to the M & T bank located at 10420 Montgomery Avenue in Kensington.

Investigators believe the same suspect from the first robbery entered the bank, displayed a small handgun, and demanded cash from the teller. According to police, a witness followed the suspect into a nearby parking lot, but fled back to the bank when the suspect pointed his gun at the witness.

Detectives also believe this suspect could be responsible for three other robberies that occurred on the following dates and locations:

• January 27, 2012 —  M & T Bank 10100 River Road, Bethesda
• January 8, 2014 — Capital One 7340 Westlake Terrace, Bethesda
• December 9, 2014 — M & T Bank 10420 Montgomery Avenue, Kensington

Police said the suspect is described as a white male, believed to be in his 40’s or 50’s. During the latest robberies, the suspect was wearing a dark colored, zippered, hooded jacket. According to police, he concealed his face and wore gloves that were dark on the palm and light on the back. Under his jacket, police said he was wearing a brown checkered dress-shirt, khaki pants, and brown dress shoes.

Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of this suspect. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
