Police Arrest Woman for Package Theft
A 57-year-old Wheaton woman faces a theft charge after a tipster identified her from publicly released surveillance images of a woman taking packages from the front steps of nearby homes, a Montgomery County police statement said.
Police said Tatiana Baker, 57, of the 12900 block of Camellia Drive was seen on surveillance video in July and August.
Officers released the images on Sept. 10, which led to the tip.
On Wednesday, detectives obtained a search warrant for Baker’s residence. During the search, investigators recovered items of evidence related to these package thefts and found Baker hiding in her home.
Baker was charged with one count of theft. According to online court records, she posted bond and was released.
Detectives continue to investigate these package thefts and a may file additional charges against Baker on a later date.
The police department thanks the tipster who provided the information that led to Baker’s identification and arrest.
The following package thefts were reported to police:
- About 6 p.m. July 24 – 3900 block of Isbell Street
- About 5:24 p.m. July 31 – 3500 block of May Street
- About 4:37 p.m. – 1400 block of Billman Lane.
