Police Arrest Montgomery Village Man in Connection with Food Delivery Robberies
A 24-year-old has been charged in connection with five armed robberies of food delivery drivers in the Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg areas, a Montgomery County police statement reads.
Babucarr Fatty of the 20500 block of Strath Haven Drive in Montgomery Village is being held without bail, according to online court records.
Police said the robberies occurred between May 5 and May 9.
Fatty’s charges involve the following armed robberies and thefts:
- On May 5, about 10:48 p.m., Fatty called a Gaithersburg pizza restaurant and ordered food to be delivered to a home in the 9300 block of Chadburn Place in Montgomery Village. After the delivery driver arrived, Fatty stole the food from the driver, police said.
- On May 6, about 10:30 p.m., Fatty called a Gaithersburg pizza restaurant and ordered food to be delivered to a home in the 9500 block of Horizon Run Road in Gaithersburg. After the delivery driver arrived, Fatty robbed him of the food and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
- On May 8, about 10:21 p.m., Fatty called a Gaithersburg Chinese food restaurant and ordered food to be delivered to a home in the 20600 block of Highland Hall Drive in Montgomery Village. Fatty tried to rob the delivery driver after he arrived at that location but he did not obtain any food or cash during this attempted robbery, police said.
- On May 8, about 10:51 p.m., Fatty called a Chinese restaurant in Montgomery Village and ordered food to be delivered to a home in the 20500 block of Aspenwood Lane in Montgomery Village. After the delivery driver arrived, Fatty robbed him of the food and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
- On May 9, about 11 p.m., Fatty called a Gaithersburg pizza restaurant and ordered food to be delivered to a home in the 20600 block of Highland Hall Drive in Montgomery Village. After the delivery driver arrived, Fatty robbed him of the food and an undisclosed amount of cash.
On May 10, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Fatty charging with five counts of armed robbery, five counts of first-degree assault, four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, and other related charges.
On May 11, Fatty was arrested at his home and taken to the Central Processing Unit, police said.
