Michael J. Suah | MCPD

A 22-year-old Wheaton man has been charged for two robberies of a PNC Bank inside a Giant Food grocery store, a Montgomery County police statement said.

Michael J. Suah of the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue faces two theft charges, police said. After his arrest, he was taken to the county’s Central Processing Unit where he was charged. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond, police said.

The two robberies took place on Nov. 14, 2017, and April 13, 2018, police said.

The first robbery took place about 2 p.m. when a man handed a note to the teller demanding money, police said. The man obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, police said.

The next day, detectives released a surveillance photo of the man and asked for help in identifying him.

About 7 p.m. April 13, a man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money, police said. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

On May 3, detectives released a surveillance photo of the man and asked for help in identifying him.

Through investigation, detectives determined that the same man had committed both robberies at the same bank, police said.

About 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, a Wheaton police district officer was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 11200 block of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton when he saw a man walking in the area, police said.

The officer immediately recognized that the man matched the description of the culprit in the PNC Bank robberies, police said. The officer stopped that individual and identified him as Suah, police said.
