Police Arrest 23-Year-Old for Germantown Home Invasion, Shooting Death

A 23-year-old Clarksburg man has been arrested in the April 29 shooting death of 19-year-old Amaru Amir Santos Johnson, a Montgomery County police statement said.

Eric Anthony Lee of the 13500 block of Wood Crest Manor Way in Clarksburg faces first-degree murder and home invasion charges, police said. He is being held in lieu of bail, according to online court records.

On April 29 about 12:55 a.m., the county’s Emergency Communications Center received several calls for a shooting that had occurred at a home in the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way, police said. Officers, and fire and rescue personnel responded to the home and found two men and two women suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

Johnson was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.  The three remaining victims were taken to local hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore ruled Johnson’s manner of death as a homicide by gunshot wound, police said.

Detectives determined that shortly after midnight on April 29, Lee and a second person robbed two victims at gunpoint in the parking lot of the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way.  The robbery victims fled to the home where the shooting ultimately occurred, police said.

Johnson and two of the subsequent shooting victims were standing outside of the home on Kitchen House Way when Lee and a second person arrived at the house, police said.

Upon approaching the front door to the home, one of the robbers immediately shot one of the victims in the leg, police said.  Johnson and a third victim tried to flee inside of the home where they were also shot; a fourth victim was also shot inside of the home, police said.  After the shooting, Lee and the second robber fled, police said.

Lee was known by some of the victims of the armed robbery and home invasion, and positively identified him as one of the suspects involved in these crimes.  Therefore, detectives do not believe that this event was random.

On May 3, an arrest warrant was issued for Lee, charging him with first-degree murder and home invasion.  On May 4, Montgomery County Police officers arrested Lee at a home in Westminster.
