Police and High School Football Players Football Game

It’s game on for Watkins Mill High School’s football players who are teaming up with Montgomery County Police Department’s sixth district to play Seneca Valley High School’s football team in a flag football game on Thursday Dec. 8. Montgomery County Police Department’s fifth district will team up with the Seneca Valley High School football team.

We’re are having this event for a couple of reasons,” said Watkins Mill High School Football Coach Michael Brown. “First is to help create a better relationship between our community and the police who immediately protect our community and second is to continue our rivalry with Seneca valley. Both schools love to compete. If it was a game of gold fish we still would try to beat the other Green Team.”

Coach Brown says he hoping this event will bring a better understanding to both sides.

“Just because you wear a badge doesn’t mean you are out to get people, especially people of color,” said Brown. “I truly believe  with out communication, empathy and action injustices will continue to minorities and police officers alike.”

The game starts at 3 p.m at the Watkins Mill High School Stadium and free for the public.
