Planning Department to Host a Series a Pop-up Events

Montgomery County’s Planning Department is hosting a series of pop-up events during the months of August and September to encourage community interaction with underutilized and hidden public spaces in Downtown Silver Spring.

These free events include outdoor yoga and silent discos.

Back in 2014, the planning department teamed up with the County Councilmembers Hans Riemer and Tom Hucker, and the Silver Spring Regional Services Center, to host a series of design workshops that focused on placemaking strategies for downtown Silver Spring.

Public participation in the workshops helped to create ideas for providing temporary and permanent uses for community spaces that engage a broad spectrum of people, according to a news release.

Here are a list of scheduled events so far:

Downward Dog Days of Summer
Free outdoor yoga sessions offered by Khepera Wellness. Water will be provided. If you plan on attending one or more of these events, please fill out the release form before the event.
