UPDATED Silver Spring Woman Dies After Randolph Road Collision

UPDATED March 7 A Silver Spring woman has died from her injuries after she was struck by two vehicles on Friday.

Police identified the woman as 26-year-old Beza Mesfin.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2005 Ford Taurus and 2005 Honda Pilot were traveling eastbound on East Randolph Road. Police said that Mesfin was crossing East Randolph Road near Tourmaline Court on a marked crosswalk when, for reasons still under investigation, both vehicles struck her. The drivers of the vehicles were not injured.

The collision remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the fatal collision to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.

Original March 4 Montgomery County police say a woman was struck by a vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday morning at the intersection of East Randolph Road and Tourmaline Court in Silver Spring.

Police described the woman’s injuries as serious. She has been transported to a local hospital.

Officer Rick Goodale said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

According to Goodale, police have reopened westbound Randolph Road but East Randolph Road remains closed while investigators are at the scene of the crash.
