UPDATED: Pedestrian Struck by School Bus on Crabbs Branch Way (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

UPDATED, June 11, 6:30 p.m. –  Crucita Reynoso of Gaithersburg died after being struck by a Montgomery County Public Schools bus at the intersection of Crabbs Branch Way and Redland Road this morning.

This morning at approximately 9 a.m., officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Crabbs Branch Way and Redland Road for the report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a school bus.  Preliminary investigation indicates that 58-year-old Reynoso was crossing Crabbs Branch Way in the area of Redland Road.  A school bus was making a left turn onto northbound Crabbs Branch Way from Redland Road when it hit her, police said in a news release.

The Montgomery County Public School bus was driven by Jonathan Chinghun Chiu, 54, of Tygard Court in Gaithersburg. MCPS Spokesman Dana Tofig told MyMCMedia Chiu has been employed by the school system since 2006.

According to the news release Reynoso died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident.

ORIGINAL – A Montgomery County School bus was involved in a serious pedestrian accident this morning at Crabbs Branch Way and Redland Road in Rockville.

According to Montgomery County Police, a woman was transported with life-threatening injuries.  Police Spokeswoman Natasha Plotnikov said the bus struck the woman. No students were on the bus at the time of the accident, she said.

Crabbs Branch Way was closed while the police department’s collision reconstruction unit was on the scene.

A Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson said the bus driver had worked for the district since 2006.
