Panhandling Campaign (Video)

The county has launched a campaign in an effort to help provide resources and services to panhandlers. Residents throughout Montgomery County are asked to give a hand up, not a hand out. Councilmember George Leventhal has been instrumental in advocating on this issue.

County Councilmember George Leventhal (speaking) and County Executive Ike Leggett on Sept. 9 announced a new initiative to address panhandling in the County and improve safety. “Give a Hand-Up, Not a Hand-Out.”  Also at the launch of the program were Director of Catholic Charities John Enzler, Executive Director of Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless,  Susan Sinclair-Smith,  and Executive Director of Bethesda Cares Susan Kirk.
