Owners Say Wheaton Needs Music Venue (Video)

Wheaton business owner Tom Stanton was among many who expressed their concerns—about the nightlife in Montgomery County—to the Nighttime Economy Task Force (NETF).

The meeting held on July 15 at Hollywood East Café in Wheaton was well attended by community members and county officials, Councilmembers Hans Riemer (D-At-large) and Marc Elrich (D-At-large).

The task force was assigned by Montgomery County Isiah Leggett (D) to evaluate the county’s nightlife to include liquor policies, resources, and entertainment. After the six-month deadline the group will submit recommendations. The process started in May.

MyMCMedia’s Tamika Smith reports.

NETF is expected to submit its final recommendations in October. The next subcommittee meetings are scheduled for July 23.
