Online Registration Officially Open for La Milla De Mayo (PHOTO)

Racers Running 450x280The City of Gaithersburg, in partnership with the Montgomery County Road Runners Club, is planning a new event in Olde Towne, La Milla de Mayo (The May Mile).

According to a news release, this is a new one mile run/walk and is being planned for Saturday, May 7, 2016. This is a part of the Cinco de Mayo event, which includes a one-mile race and two Kids Fun Runs.

The course is designed to give participants a chance to experience Olde Towne Gaithersburg. It’s a downhill, point-to-point race along East Diamond Avenue. The news release also states that as many as 28 volunteer Course Marshals will be needed to keep the course clear and safe from traffic.

The event will feature a Post-Race-Expo with live entertainment, food, and festivities. Registration costs $19 for participants ages 12 and older and $10 for participants between the ages of 5 and 11, while registration is free for those under the age of 5. Registration for the Kids Fun Runs is free. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dolores Swoyer Scholarship Fund.
