Olympia Dukakis at Strathmore
Strathmore presents Olympia Dukakis in a concert reading of “Rose” March 13 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda.
Oscar-winning film, theater and television actor Olympia Dukakis inhabits the feisty character of Rose in an intimate reading of a Jewish woman who has survived some of the major events that shaped the 20th century with humor, guile and spirit.
“Rose,” the one-woman play by Martin Sherman, illustrates a remarkable life that began in a tiny Russian village, moved on to the Warsaw ghettos and finally to the boardwalks of Atlantic City, the Arizona Canyons and Miami Beach. Dukakis first performed “Rose” in 1999 at the Royal National Theatre in London and then in 2000 opened at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway.
Tickets are $26 – $70 and may be purchased by calling 301.581.5100 or online at the Strathmore website.
