Olney Library to Reopen March 15 (Video)

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett today announced that the newly renovated Olney Library at 3500 Olney-Laytonsville Rd. will reopen with a public ceremony/ ribbon cutting on the morning of Saturday, March 15.

“The Olney community deserves a first-class library and this is what they will get when the doors open for business on the 15th,” said Leggett. “While retaining some features of the former building, this building has not only a new shape but will offer some exciting new features and services for the customers. I look forward to celebrating this special occasion with the Olney residents.”

“Substantial completion” by the Department of General Services (DGS) was achieved on December 27, 2013.

Olney Library staff is currently working onsite handling a variety of move-in tasks, such as receiving books, getting trained on the latest technologies that will be offered in the library, planning best use of space of specific areas of the facility, etc.

More information about the project, including photos, is available on the DGS construction page and the MCPL Olney Library page.
