O.A.R. Performs at Strathmore (Video)

The rock band ‘Of a Revolution’ will perform at the Music Center at Strathmore, Friday Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. The performance is part of O.A.R.’s 2012 Heard the World Benefit Concert to support youth and education program’s in the U.S. and abroad. O.A.R will perform with the Beethoven Found Philharmonic.

The rock bank O.A.R. first began to develop their unique sound in drummer Chris Culos’ basement while in high school at Thomas S. Wootton in Rockville, Maryland. The band released their first album, The Wanderer, prior to graduating and stayed together throughout college with all members attending The Ohio State University. Recording two additional albums before leaving Columbus, the band began pursuing their musical dreams full time in the summer of 2001. By the end of 2008, the band had released six studio albums and three live double disc CDs.

To date O.A.R. has sold close to two million albums and over two million concert tickets, including three sold-out shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. In 2011 the band released their most recent studio album, King, which debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 chart, #3 on the Billboard Digital Album Chart, and was #3 at iTunes on the day of the release. King was the follow-up to the band’s 2008 release, All Sides, which contains the Platinum hit radio single “Shattered.” This holiday season the band will be releasing a live CD and DVD of their July 2012 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.

O.A.R.’s 2012 Heard the World Benefit Concert will continue the band’s mission to support youth and education program’s in the U.S. and abroad. O.A.R. will focus the proceeds from this concert to benefit the education of students in Youngstown, Ohio. Having been a supporter of the Liberty High School music program for years, the band seeks to further their efforts by supplying resources to the broader community where O.A.R. saxophonist, Jerry DePizzo, was born and raised. Additional proceeds will benefit Beethoven Found’s Tribute to the Wounded Warrior. It is a special honor to have the Beethoven Found Philharmonic accompany the band onstage at Strathmore this December.
