UPDATED: Severe Storms Roll Across Montgomery County (VIDEO)

4.6.17 UPDATED Severe storms rolled across Montgomery County on Thursday afternoon with heavy rains, hail and high winds.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 5 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

As the storms headed towards Montgomery County earlier today, the NWS issued a tornado warning as well as a severe thunderstorm warning.

As of 2:45 p.m., there were over 3,700 Pepco customers without power in Montgomery County, according to the utility company’s online outage maps. Pepco officials said crews are working on restoration and they are reminding residents to stay away from any downed power lines. If your power is out, call Pepco at 1.877.737.2662.

On his Twitter account, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said there were reports of trees and wires down in several areas of the county.

It was pouring at 2 p.m. outside Montgomery Community Media’s offices in Derwood.
