New Development Coming to Bethesda: 7700 Norfolk Avenue
Demolition is taking place on a new residential and retail development in Bethesda.
Workers are beginning to clear a section of single story retail at Fairmont and Norfolk avenues to make way for new apartments and retail shops. The development is a joint venture of The JBG Companies, ROSS Development & Investment and the CIM Group. Construction of 7770 Norfolk Avenue will begin in earnest in September with occupancy expected in mid-2015.
“We ask for the neighborhood’s patience during the demolition and construction phases as we work to deliver this new neighbor to downtown Bethesda,” said Kai Reynolds, a partner at The JBG Companies. “We have an excellent team with strong experience in this market and cutting edge architecture that has a modern aesthetic. Together, we are committed to creating a first-class property that will add to the lively residential and retail atmosphere in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle.”
“It is exciting to team with such good partners as JBG and CIM on 7770 Norfolk Avenue,” said Scott Ross, President of ROSS Development & Investment. “This is a prime corner that will offer new residential and retail experiences, further enlivening downtown Bethesda.”
This newest development in the Woodmont Triangle section of Bethesda reflects a push by Montgomery County to encourage more concentrated residential growth and street activity in the area proximate to the Bethesda Metro station. JBG is leading the new 17-story development, which will bring 244 apartments and approximately 6,000 square feet of retail to Norfolk Avenue, a prime location directly across the street from Veteran’s Park.
