National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory for Montgomery County
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for portions of Montgomery County that is effective from noon – 8 p.m. Thursday, August 11. Areas of the county affected include Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Silver Spring.
According to the Advisory, temperatures are expected to reach the mid 90s.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of high temperatures is expected. The combination of high temps and high humidity may create a combination in which heat illnesses are possible.
Residents are advised to take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside. You should reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Also, know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light and loose fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water.
