National Night Out Olney
The National Night Out is an event held on the first Tuesday in August. The focus is on crime prevention, fire safety and bringing communities together. August 7, 2012 will be 19 years that Olney will have held this event, and has been recognized nine times for its participation in NNO. There will be exhibits, activities, for adults and children to take part in. Some of the local restaurants will have food for sale and music will be playing as well. The local police have demonstrations of search and rescue dogs and how they are trained to search for items. Even the Secret Service will be there this year to give the kids the experience of being fingerprinted. The fire dept will be giving out information and maybe even giving demonstrations on how some of their equipment works. This is a fun night for all ages and gives the community a chance to mingle with the local fire and police, and learn about crime prevention and awareness as well as fire safety. Come to the Olney National Night out on Aug 7 from 5pm-8pm at the Fairhill shopping center located at the corner of Spartan rd. and rt. 108. For more information on this event go to www.olneymd.org
