Celebrate National Night Out on August 5 (Video)

Montgomery County will celebrate National Night Out against crime on August 5.

This event, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations.

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a variety of events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.

This is the 31st year of National Night Out observances that demonstrate a community’s commitment to keep their neighborhood free from crime.

The following communities have provided their respective itinerary of events to the Montgomery County Police Department as of July 25:

1st District:

Stoneymill Square shopping center at Randolph Rd. and Veirs Mill Road; 7 – 9 p.m.

Community event:

Quince Orchard Knolls Park at the intersection of Quince Mill Dr. and Peach Leaf Drive; 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Lyttonsville/Rosemary Hills/Rock Creek communities at Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Center at 2450 Lyttonsville Road; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Scotland community at 7700 Scotland Dr., Potomac, in the parking lot near the Recreation Center construction site; 6 – 8 p.m.
