National Night Out in Takoma Park to be Held on Aug. 1

In an effort to heighten safety and crime prevention awareness, Takoma Park City officials are inviting residents to a National Night Out on Aug. 1, according to a news release.
National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and celebrated by police departments and communities across the country.
In addition to crime prevention awareness, the goal of this free event is to strengthen relationships among community members and between the community and local police department.
This year’s event will include informational brochures on various safety topics, food, games, giveaways, interactive educational activities, and live music.
National Night Out will be held at Piney Branch Elementary School, 7510 Maple Ave. from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
