Montgomery Village Community Meeting Set for Oct. 23
Montgomery County Council Vice President Craig Rice, who represents District 2 that includes much of the Upcounty area and Montgomery Village, will meet with residents starting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, at Watkins Mill Hill School. Among the issues he will provide updates on are the future of the Montgomery Village golf course, the planned northward extension of Mid-County Highway (the M83 project), the cleanup of Lake Whetstone and the increased attention to crime prevention.
Watkins Mill High School is located at 10301 Apple Ridge Road, near the intersection of Watkins Mill Road.
Council Vice President Rice also will update the progress of the renovation work at the Gaithersburg Library. Other topics for discussion will be traffic, planned transportation improvements and the long-term future of Lakeforest Mall.
“It is hard to believe that Montgomery Village is almost 50 years old, and over five decades, much of the plan has held up well,” said Council Vice President Rice. “Montgomery Village is no longer thought of as the ‘outer suburb’ it started as five decades ago. But with that evolution comes new ideas, the need to examine what is ready for change and the pressures that this community feels because of all the things that are happening on all sides of the Village. I encourage people to come with their opinions and their questions. I will be there to listen—and to provide updates on many things.”
