Montgomery Parks Extends Open Parkways for Holiday Weekend
Several open parkways for pedestrians and bicyclists will operate for extended hours during the holiday weekend, the Montgomery County Parks Department announced Tuesday.
Portions of Sligo Creek Parkway in Silver Spring, Beach Drive in Kensington, and a 1.3-mile stretch of Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda will be open to pedestrian traffic beginning Thursday, July 2 at 9 a.m. until Sunday, July 5 at 6 p.m.
Our open roads begin Thursday, 9 am, for the holiday weekend.
Get outdoors for biking, walking, and running on almost seven miles of car-free streets through Sunday, 6 pm.

The county announced the open streets initiative back in April to accommodate socially distanced exercise amid the pandemic. Car-free streets created through the program total more than six miles in length.
All parks, trails and fields will remain open for exercise during the holiday weekend. A complete list of open parkways included in the initiative can be found here.
