Montgomery COVID-19 Positivity Rate Remains Below 5%
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 15,780 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 53 from the 15,727 cases reported Sunday.
Since the first case in March, 722 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of one since Sunday. More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 691 residents, the second-highest number.
The positivity rate of 4.47% reported Monday is an increase of 0.15% since Sunday’s report. This is the fourth day the rate has remained below 5%. Montgomery County currently has the eighth-highest rate in the state, behind Caroline (4.99%), Baltimore County (4.13%), Charles (5.98%), Baltimore City (6.01%), Prince George’s (7.06%), Talbot (7.68%), and Queen Anne’s (7.84%).
Maryland COVID-19 Statistics
As of Monday morning, there have been 73,527 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 418 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,194 Marylanders, six since Sunday.
Currently, 386 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, six fewer than Sunday. Of those patients, 108 are in intensive care, which is six ewer than Sunday. Since June 23rd hospitalizations due to COVID-19 throughout the state have remained below 500. Monday marks the fifth day the number fell below 400.
The health department reported a testing positivity rate of 4.63% Monday. This is an increase of 0.18% from Sunday’s rate of 4.45%. The rate has remained below 5% since June 25th.
Statewide, a total of 21,260 cases and 1,298 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
