What’s Open and What’s Closed on Veterans Day in Montgomery County

veterans-dayMontgomery County has posted the following holiday schedule for Veterans Day:

  • County offices – closed.
  • Libraries – closed.
  • County liquor stores – all retail stores are open normal hours.
  • Recreation – aquatic and community centers open as scheduled; classes and programs will meet as scheduled; all senior programs cancelled, and administrative offices and senior centers closed.
  • Montgomery Parks — for holiday operating schedule on Parks’ facilities, including Brookside Gardens, ice rinks, tennis centers, trains and carousels, visit www.MontgomeryParks.org.
  • Ride On – Ride On will run on a special modified holiday schedule.
  • Metrobus – Information available at www.wmata.com.
  • Metrorail – Information available at www.wmata.com.
  • TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights) – closed.
  • Recycling Center – closed.
  • Refuse/recycling pickup – Friday collections will slide to Saturday.
  • Transfer Station recycling and trash drop-offs – open normal hours.
  • Transfer Station and Recycling Center administrative offices – closed.
  • The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station – closed.
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free.
  • MCPS administrative offices – open.
  • MCPS schools – open with early release day for Kindergarten through 8th grade students.
  • State offices and courts – closed.

The City of Rockville government will observe the following holiday schedule for Veterans Day on Nov. 11:

  • City Hall, the Senior Center and Glenview Mansion will be closed.
  • The F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will be open 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Recycling and refuse will be collected as usual.
