Montgomery County’s First Lady, Catherine Leggett, has been named “Peacemaker of the Year 2016” by the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County (CRCMC).
Leggett was honored at the CRCMC’s 15th Annual Peacemaker Gala Awards banquet on Oct. 20 in Rockville.
“This peacemaker award means everything in the world to me,” said First Lady of Montgomery County, Catherine Leggett. “It is so important that we resolve conflict, that we bring people together and that we work as a unit in our community.”
Each year, the CRCMC’s Board of Directors selects a person who has made an important contribution to the Montgomery County community, while also representing the spirit of peace and reconciliation, which is the mission of the organization.
Leggett was nominated unanimously by the CRCMC’s Board of Directors.
“They love the work that she’s done in the community and her work with our youth” said Christopher Page, executive director for the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County.
The CRCMC offers free mediation services to anyone who lives or works in Montgomery County.
