MCEA Endorses Ryan Spiegel
The Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA), representing more than 12,000 classroom teachers, guidance counselors, speech pathologists, media specialists and other non-supervisory certified educators in the Montgomery County Public Schools system, voted at its most recent Representative Assembly meeting to lend its strong support to Ryan Spiegel’s campaign to fill the open seat being vacated by Phil Andrews.
Spiegel has served as a Gaithersburg City Councilmember since 2007. His name will appear on the group’s well-known Apple Ballot for the June 24 Primary Election.
“As the son of a Maryland public school teacher and as a graduate of Maryland public schools, I know how fundamental our public education system and its hardworking teachers are to the success of our children, our communities and our quality of life,” said Spiegel. “I am honored to have the support of Montgomery County’s educators.”
District 3 includes Rockville, Gaithersburg, Leisure World, Washington Grove and parts of Aspen Hill, Derwood, Potomac and North Potomac.
The deadline for candidates to file is Feb. 25 and the Primary election is June 24.
