Montgomery County Seven-Day Testing Positive Rate Lower Than 11 Maryland Jurisdictions

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

Wednesday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 19,180 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is a 0.27% increase from the 19,127 cases reported Tuesday.

Since the first case in March, 774 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of one death since Tuesday, according to the health department. The number of probable deaths is 40.

More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has thus far lost 746 residents, the second-highest number in the state.

The seven-day rolling average for test positivity, according to the state health department, is 2.7%. Montgomery County’s average is lower than the following jurisdictions when it comes to seven-day test positivity rate: Allegheny (2.81%), Baltimore (3.42%), Baltimore City (3.84%), Charles (4.46%), Dorchester (4.37%), Hartford (3.23%), Prince George’s (5.12%), Queen Anne’s (4.22%), Somerset (3.1%), Wicomico (2.89%), and Worcester (3.11%).

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics

As of Wednesday morning, there have been 101,649 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 414 cases, or 0.41%, in the last 24 hours.  COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,522 Marylanders, 11 since Tuesday.

Currently, 475 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is 22 more than Tuesday. Of those patients, 107 are in intensive care.

The state’s seven-day rolling average for test positivity is 3.22%. On Tuesday, Maryland saw its lowest test positivity rate of 3.21%.

A total of 32,440 cases and 1,443 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
