Montgomery County Recreation Will Reopen 10 Pools Monday

Summer swimming is back! Pools operated by Montgomery County Recreation will reopen on July 6.

As part of Phase 2 reopening plans, the department’s seven outdoor pools and three indoor centers will be available to pass holders seven days a week, starting Monday. Outdoor facilities will operate from noon to 8 p.m. each day for recreational swim, while indoor centers will open for lap swimming between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the weekends. Pools will operate in two-hour sessions that require reservations.

Safety measures will still be in place to maintain public health. Face masks are required for those two and older unless in the pool. Groups must stay together and remain socially distant from others. Saunas, hot tubs, baby pools and shared equipment will all be unavailable. Slides and diving boards will be open as well as bathrooms and bathhouses.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Indoor Aquatic Center will not be opening, due to renovations that are planned to end by September.

“We are pleased to be able to welcome County residents back to our pools,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Robin Riley in the announcing press release. “Things will look very different this year as our staff has been working hard to ensure that we have the necessary processes and procedures in place to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all.”
